1. When and where will Slavic Game Jam 2025 take place?
Slavic Game Jam will take place between 1 and 3 August, in Warsaw, Poland (with a pre-party on Thursday, 31 June). Specifically, in the Rektorska 4 building, belonging to Warsaw University of Technology (the same venue that hosted Slavic Game Jam in 2019 :sgj19: and 2024 :sgj24: ).
2. Where can I buy the ticket? What's the ticket price?
Ticket sales have started! Get yours here! Ticket price for standard ticket is 150 PLN.
3. If I don't find the answer to my question here, where can I ask it?
On the discord! We're keeping an eye on all questions there. Expect this FAQ to be updated too, when more information is available!
4. What is a game jam?
Game Jams are events where participants come together to create games within a short time frame, typically under 48 hours. These events encourage rapid prototyping, creativity, and collaboration.
5. Is it required to have a team before the jam?
No. It's a common practice to join without a premade team and form a team on the jam. Or if you feel confident enough, you can always work solo.
6. I have no experience in game development, can I still join the jam?
Of course! No experience is required and jams are perfect for trying something new and testing your capabilities. You will learn a great deal, trust us π
7. Who is this kind of event for?
Professionals, students, beginners, basically every game enthusiast can try their skills in a game jam, you are all welcome. On a jam like this you can find mostly programmers and graphic artists, but also designers, sound designers, writers or producers.
8. Whatβs unique about Slavic Game Jam?
Slavic Game Jam stands out due to its laid-back approach. Unlike traditional game jams, there is no competition between teams, and no prizes for winning games. This creates a relaxed environment where participants can focus on creative process and experimentation without the pressure of competition.
9. What are the prizes for winning Slavic Game Jam?
There are none. Slavic Game Jam is a competition-free event, focused on socializing, sharing and simply fun π
10. What's there instead of awards ceremony then?
SGJ ends with a Showcase on Sunday, where jammers play each other's games! We provide ample time for everyone to see as many games as possible, play and talk about them. Showcase is open for everyone!
11. What is Hyde park?
Hyde park is a dedicated space for any kind of activity not related to jamming. You can host a concert, workshop, stand up comedy or anything else you want! Check out our discord to get an idea of what is possible.
12. What is the limit for team size?
Your team can be as big as you want. Although, we recommend a team size of 4-5 people.
13. Can I / all of my team participate remotely?
No. Slavic Game Jam is offline first - we want you to breathe, eat and sleep gamedev for a weekend, exchanging experiences and playing each other's games. If you want to attend an online game jam, here is a handy link to find one!
14. Can our teammate join online?
Yes π We recommend that ALL participants be on-site, but we allow parts of the team to be online. Such participants should NOT purchase tickets, as we use them to reserve space on the venue.
15. What is included in the price of the ticket to Slavic Game Jam 2025?
The ticket price includes access to the event venue, full 3 meals a day, snacks and drinks during the event, a welcome pack that includes an awesome T-shirt, place to sleep, and entry to the pre- and after-parties!
16. Woah, pre-party AND after-party? Did I read that right?
Yes! π» The pre-party happens on Thursday evening before the jam (31st of July 2025). Traditionally, it is hosted at a club/bar, and is a fun night of music and networking, with drinks and a DJ performance. The after-party happens on Sunday evening and is a chill gathering. Last chance to socialize, share stories, and play each other's games. Since there is no cut-throat competition, many jammers still have the energy to come by :D
17. Can I bring a friend to the parties?
After-party is open to anyone. Taking a +1 to the pre-party may require a small fee.
18. What is the jam schedule? Is it okay if I'm late?
We're still working on the schedule for SGJ 2025. We appreciate your patience! Check-in is open at all times, don't worry!
19. What's the venue like? Is sleeping possible?
Sleeping will be possible in the venue between Friday and Sunday. There will be a dedicated room and bean bags to sleep on. Shower still isn't fixed, though. There is a small kitchen with microwave and fridge on site.
20. Can my friend visit me, if they don't have a ticket?
ANYONE can visit the SGJ Showcase on Sunday! Please invite all of your friends and show off your games! During the jam, short visits are allowed after permission from an organizer, and saying hi at the check-in desk.
21. Is there parking nearby? What are the public transport options?
We recommend arriving by public transport: bus, tram, or metro, stop 'Metro Politechnika' or 'Plac Politechniki'. Parking around the venue on the streets nearby is paid on Friday. Parking in front of the venue itself may be available but is paid all weekend.
22. Can I bring my pet?
No, we're sorry. Pets are not allowed as per venue rules.
23. Is there a games submission page? Do I need to sign up somewhere?
Yes, on itch.io. The link to submit your game will be shared shortly before or during the jam. If you don't have an account at itch.io, we recommend you create it before the jam!
24. What tools can I use to make a game? Is GenAI allowed?
Use whatever you want! Whatever brings you fun. Use any engine (usually Unity, Godot, Unreal), or no engine. Use an existing game to mod, or start with just pen and paper and make a board game. The great thing about the non-competetive format is that you can experiment with anything :D However, you should always respect the licenses of any assets you use and credit their developers. Using GenAI is allowed, but PLEASE DISCLOSE WHAT YOU USED IT FOR in your game submission description.
25. What do I need to bring? Is equipment provided?
You need to bring any equipment you need. Extension cords are always welcome. Comfy clothes and shoes too. Stay tuned or ask other jammers on discord for more tips!
26. Can I leave my equipment onsite overnight? Are there lockers? Can I bring a suitcase?
Yes, you will be able to leave a suitcase or any equipment in the organizers room, where only organizers and volunteers are allowed. There will be volunteers on site at all times. There are no lockers.
27. Will there be a theme?
Yes, it will be announced at the beginning of the jam!
28. Is it possible to refund my ticket or transfer to someone else?
Transferring tickets between jammers is very much possible. In such case, please send an email to kntgpolygon@gmail.com with old and new ticket holder details. Ticket refunds may be permitted in exceptional circumstances, also send us an email in that case.
